Winch Rope Manual

Warning

Impact and Moving Part Entanglement Hazard

Failure to observe these instructions could lead to severe injury to death

XT15

Never exceed the WLL of 1800lbs.(816kg)or shock load this rope.

Never use this rope on a winch with a rated line pull greater than 1800lbs.

(816kg)

Never exceed the maximum line pull rating for winch or 1800lbs,line pull rating for synthetic rope, whichever is less.shock loads must not exceed this rating.

Always Know the Working Load Limit (WLL)of your rope.

Always determine suitability of rope for a specific application.

Never use a rope if Worn,Damaged,Abused,Overloaded or Improperly Maintained.

Never stand within the recoil(snapback)area.

Never use rope over a rough surface without Chafe Protection.

Never bend rope around unprotected, sharp corners.

Always use a minimum of five wraps of synthetic rope around the drum barrel to hold the load. The anchor puck is not designed to hold the load.

Tips for sale operation

Do not expose rope to chemicals or heat sources.

Avoid prolonged exposure of synthetic rope to ultraviolet rays from sunlight which can degrade rope strength over time.Use a winch cover over winch and rope when not in use.

Any sharp bends in the rope under load decreases its strength substantially and may cause premature damage or failure.Sheave diameters on rotating snatch blocks should be at least 10 times the rope diameter(1.6” for 5/32” rope and 2.0” for 3/16” rope)

Avoid pulling rope over rough surface or sharp edges.Slide the protective sleeve along the length of the rope to place it at a location where the rope would encounter rough surface such as rock or tree brancheds.

See Rope Inspection,on page 8,for information on when to replace the synthetic rope.

Note:

Rope must installed so that it feeds from the bottom of the drum.

A roller fairlead,P/N 28929,is recommended for use with the synthetic rope.

Before installing synthetic rope, inspect winch drum and smooth any sharp edges on drum barrel, flanges and other winch accessories that may contact the rope.

The roller fairlead must be replaced if it has been used with a wire rope.Wire ropes abrade the roller surface, which will damage synthetic rope.

Never use something to secure rope end to winch drum that could damage rope that is wrapped over it.

Do not hook rope back onto itself or tie knots in rope.

Notice

AVOID WINCH AND EQUIPMENT DAMAGE

Always avoid side pulls winch can pile up rope at one end of the drum. This can damage rope or winch.

Always ensure the clutch is fully engaged or disengaged.

Never use winch to tow other vehicles or objects,Shock loads can momentarily exceed capacity of rope and winch.

Always avoid “powering out” for extended distances. This causes excess heat and wear on the winch motor and brake.

Always use care to not damage the vehicle frame when anchoring to a vehicle during a winching operation.

Never”jog” rope under load.Shock loads can momentarily exceed capacity of rope and winch.

Never use winch ro secure a load during transport.

Always submerge winch in water.

Aleays store the remote control in a protected, clean, dry area.

Always double line or pick distant anchor point when rigging. This maximizes pullingpower and avoids overloading the winch.
